Note: All unit assignments are due by beginning of class. All work is submitted to Pirate's View via the Assignments and Discussion links on the course menu. The assignments may be completed and turned in earlier in the week and are accessed via the Assignment and Discussion links, respectively. To get full credit on discussions, you must not only address the discussion prompt, but you must also respond to two of your classmate's responses. Be sure to read and follow instructions on the Policy Page - Discussion Prompts.

Unit 3: Invention

Writing is a process, not an event. The first step in that process is to free ourselves from the internal critic that stifles our creative thought process. Invention exercises help us to find topics and subjects appropriate for the writing assignment and for our own interests.

Unit 4: Rough Draft

In process writing, we work through our ideas one step at a time. In this course, you will use a multiple-draft writing process to help you to more fully take advantage of your editorial/proofing and reading abilities as a tool for shaping your essay.

Unit 5: Revision

Revision is the essence of process writing. Given the ability to read, and re-read our essays, we inevitably produce essays that are more fully realized and free from stylistic and grammatical problems.
