Questions for Rough Draft

As responders to a paper, you should always be polite, attentive, and remember—you’re next.

What confuses you?
Does the first sentence/paragraph pull you in ?
How is the organization (are there good sentence transitions and paragraph transitions)?
Is there a strong introduction?
Is there a strong conclusion?
Is the thesis clear? Does the author back up the thesis with at least three strong propositions?

Does the author use strong, active verbs and avoid passive verbs?
Are there areas that need to be edited for grammar/punctuation/spelling? Note them.
Does the essay have a strong, interesting title?
Make specific suggestions for 2nd draft.

Note to writer:

  • How has paper changed?How is it better?
  • What still needs work?
